O passing Angel,
speed me with a song,
A melody of heaven
To reach my heart
And rouse me to the race
and make me strong

field eryngo
View all 18 photos...

The bloming thistles belong to the family of "field eryngo" that makes beautiful spherical flower whith a diameter of 6 to 8 cm (like a tennis ball)

Today i had a look to "my" old abandoned sand quarry. I know that it's always anything to shot. So i found a lot of red small butterflies busy by looking for food on a flower called Echium vulgare ( viperine vulgaire) and other flying insects busy by reproducing the species

does someone know the name of this fly?

oh my gosh these are superb!!! the color is soooo dark, i just love them!! Wed 16-Jun-2004 13:53

Beautiful weeds II - Jolies mauvaises herbes

Silver thistle
waiting of bloming

View all 18 photos...
Yesterday i was very lucky and had a good feeling. I found a piece of waste ground covered with heaps of ballast. On this place i found a many species of weeds and 3 or four species of very great thistles ( 1,60 meter high), wich will make wonderful flowers i guess. by now i could only shot two bloming thistles but i shall keep watch and shall to be able to show them on the coming days. I saw also geant poppies wich look like asian poppies an many other beautiful wild flowers that are growing there. I saw the most of them for the first time in my life because there are very rare, destroyed by the weedkillers; In the past time, in the forties when my mother was a young girl, people were requisitioned several times in june in order to clean the field with a long knife or special tools. However this way was vey ecological and gave them a chance to survive in an other place. Now i encourage you to visit uncultivated places or waste grounds and bring us pictures of endangered plant species.

belle serie .

The silver thistle I saw at our local zoo was also fabulous,
called Scottish thistle . Approximately 9 ft tall, bluish green
and very large lovely purple flowers atop its stalk....

Blue dragonfly
View all 15 photos...
Yesterday we made a trip trough the little Alsacian Camargue ( nature reserve) that is located in France near of the swiss border. It is a wet and marshy place ( 5 x 1 miles) feeded with ground water coming from the " Rhine" wich is not far away.
One can see 200 birds species, aurochs and deers, as many insects and plants.

The Water lily is so beautiful! In my hometown there are also lots of such flowers...Their blooming in the water is especially full of charm Thu 10-Jun-2004 18:36

Goats beard & cherries - salsifis des prés et premieres cerises

goats beard plant

goats beard seed ball
View all 12 photos...
I see that all people believe see dandelions in my page yesterday. This big fruit or seed ball is the fruit of an Goats beard plant, traduced "Wiesenbocksbart" in german, and "Salsifis des prés" in french. This seed ball is much bigger as the dandelion and has the the size of an orange. Do see flowers and the seed fruit of the "goats beard"
Also today, we eat the first cherries of our tree. On the top of the tree, there are any pop music CD so that the blackbirds can sing any new melodies
and also End of the poppies story this year: did you never play "procession" with poppies when you were young kids ?

ladybug just jumps right off the screen. Nice shooting! Sat 29-May-2004 23:06
